Once described by Hollywood film legend John Wayne as “where God put the West,” Moab, Utah, is nestled in the heart of southeastern Utah’s red rock country. The scenic backcountry near Moab has served as the backdrop for a variety of Hollywood movies, including many of director John Ford’s iconic westerns as well as Thelma and Louise, Mission Impossible II and a new version of The Lone Ranger.

Mountain biking, whitewater rafting, hiking and off-road driving on backcountry trails draw hundreds of thousands of visitors to Moab each year. And with two national parks — Canyonlands and Arches — located just a few miles from town, the area offers something for almost every outdoor enthusiast.
