Kokomo Private Island Fiji

All-inclusive luxury in Fiji
VERIFIED LUXURY

Surrounded by Fiji’s thriving Astrolabe Reef, Kokomo Private Island Fiji is an all-inclusive paradise. Days are spent wandering through the property’s topical gardens to a yoga class, spa treatment, the hilltop gym or the seaside. And you’re never far from the water — views of the ocean are found from every room.

The ethos of Kokomo Private Island Fiji centers around sustainability and wellness. Enjoy wandering through the onsite farm that equips each of the three restaurants with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Every meal is thoughtfully crafted with health and farm-to-table in mind. The resort focuses on conservation through coral gardening and manta ray tracking programs just a short swim away from the shoreline.

Secluded villas and romantic dining options make the island retreat an idyllic getaway for couples, though families will enjoy the gamut of activities made especially for kids. Explore the surrounding reefs with scuba gear or a snorkel, catch your own dinner on a fishing excursion, hike to a waterfall and lounge in your personal pool. At the end of each day, grab a glass of wine recommended by the resort’s sommelier and head to a hammock. Chances are, you’ll never want to leave.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • The architecture and atmosphere of the Fiji hotel thoughtfully blends into its surroundings with strong wood and thatch elements. Lang Walker, owner of the resort, added his personal touch with décor sourced from all around the world — making it a one-of-a-kind stay.
  • A massage or beauty treatment at the heavenly Yaukuve Spa Sanctuary is a must in the outdoor bures surrounded by lush gardens. Choose your scent of Sodashi products to make the experience a delight for all senses.
  • Embark on a scuba dive or snorkeling tour of the vibrant Astrolabe Reef led by Cliona O’Flaherty, the resort’s onsite marine biologist. Water lovers wanting to make a positive impact can participate in a coral restoration project, a gardening initiative that counters the damaging effects of climate change.
  • Stretch to the sound of palm fronds rustling in the breeze and take in deep ocean views at the resort’s quaint yoga shala, where classes are small and are highly personalized.
  • Grab a book and paddle in a kayak out to the resort’s floating dock outfitted with plush lounge chairs. Worries are guaranteed to be left ashore.

Things to Know

  • Rooms on the east side of the island tend to be more secluded and are prime for watching the sunrise. Request accommodations on the west side for calm water and fantastic sunsets.
  • Reach the island via a 30- to 60-minute seaplane or helicopter ride that departs near the resort’s exclusive airport lounge at Nadi International Airport.
  • Expect a heartfelt welcome as soon as you arrive. Each guest is greeted with a melodic song from the staff, an intricate floral lei called a salusalu and a fresh coconut.
  • The family-friendly hotel hosts all-day activities and an overwater trampoline for little ones. Older kids and teens are sure to love the games room complete with air hockey, ping pong, foosball and pool tables.
  • Before your arrival, you’ll be invited to complete a survey that queries about your preferred pillow softness, culinary likes and dislikes, favorite drinks, housekeeping times and other nuances that will help personalize your stay.

The Rooms

  • Twenty-one one- to three-bedroom beachfront villas outline the property, each with an infinity pool and dense garden walls for a secluded ambiance.
  • Five spacious residences range from three to six bedrooms, which is excellent for large families or groups. With large cozy lounge areas and an infinity pool, it will take some serious motivation to leave the residence.
  • The villas and residences utilize large windows to highlight the property’s stellar ocean views and garden landscaping. Fijian artwork, driftwood sculptures and paintings by Chris Kenyon create a strong sense of place.
  • A handy iPad within each accommodation provides information on ocean tides, weather, activities on offer and essential information about the luxury hotel.
  • Feeling hungry? Simply order from the room service menu to have a freshly made meal or snack delivered to your door — it’s included in your rate. Otherwise, the minibar is stocked with spiced nuts, soft cookies, chocolate, tea, coffee and other staples.

The Restaurants

  • Meander around the grounds and you’ll likely stumble upon the 5.5-acre farm complete with a hydroponic greenhouse, chicken coop, beehives and sea-salt-making station. Herbs, fruits and vegetables make their way from the farm onto the dinner plate — leftovers are turned into rich compost.
  • Enjoy dining at the rustic yet chic boardwalk restaurant, Walker D’Plank, where head chef Caroline Oakley crafts each meal with your cravings and available ingredients in mind.
  • Kokokabana is the resort’s retro-style café that serves cocktails, housemade ice cream and wood-fired pizzas alongside a pool. For some time in the shade, head into the neighboring arcade room.
  • Sit down and stay a while at the Beach Shack, the resort’s most spacious seaside restaurant. Come for sweet treats, hearty breakfasts, lunch and a dinner tasting menu.
  • You may request to have a private picnic in lieu of a sit-down meal at one of the restaurants. A piece of advice: the helipad affords prime views of the island and a cool breeze at sunset.
