Our Inspector's Highlights
- An iconic but alternative Turkish dining experience is not to be missed at Nusr-Et. An exuberant establishment founded by famous Turkish chef Nusret Gökçe (best known as Salt Bae), Nusr-Et specializes in meats prepared with interesting ingredients that are presented in unusual manners. Creative offerings such as Meat Sushi (New York Strip with avocado cream on sushi rice) and a tableside-presented seasoned steak are all served with flair.
- A paradise for dedicated shoppers, the Istanbul hotel is a five-minute stroll from city's best shopping. Nisantasi mall has all the top European and Turkish brands. There are traditional stores for all of your Turkish delights. And old-fashioned arcades are brimming with fabric shops and fine jewelry options.
- The attention to detail in the bathrooms is remarkable, with each space being beautifully tiled with spacious bathtubs. Dornbracht luxury rainfall showers provide a soothing bathing experience and Aromatherapy Associate amenities add a spa-like touch. Selected rooms also have private steam chambers in the bathroom—no need for a public sauna.
- The Spa at Park Hyatt Istanbul - Macka Palas is a luminous white haven of chic modern luxury, with custom color-therapy lighting in each of the treatment rooms. The sanctuary offers traditional Turkish scrubs and massages in its new hammam. The Ottoman-era sultan’s favored ingredients of pearl, rose and mint are used in the treatments.
- While everyday Greek-style diners abound in Istanbul, high-end restaurants such as Park Hyatt’s Kalimera, that showcase the neighboring country’s culinary bounty, are not so common. This eatery serves Aegean fish and fresh Greek-style squid, all in white-washed interior that gives a summery, Mykonos vibe.
The Look
- The thing that sets the Macka Palas design apart from most of the other hotels in the city is that it’s not a trend-driven model. Hyatt masterfully blends historic charm with modern amenities at this innovative luxury hotel. Yes, the original façade remains intact, but the rooms are modern and comfortable.
- Each of the 85 exquisite guest rooms and five penthouse suites are filled with light from generous windows and paneled in warm wooden tones. The artwork consists of beautiful images of old Istanbul. Soft furnishings have been chosen in geometric patterns and complementary neutral tones for a modern look.
- The low-key entrance opens up to an impressive lobby. Like almost everything at the property, the area is a mélange of old and new. It is lined with classic brown tiles, filled with modern furniture, accented with old photos and adorned with fresh orchids.
