Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Jeju is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and World Natural Heritage Site, so it’s no surprise that JW Marriott Jeju Resort & Spa celebrates nature at every opportunity. You’ll sense it everywhere — in the breezy clifftop setting, lush gardens, fresh local ingredients and in the interior design, where floor-to-ceiling windows keep the stunning landscape at top of mind.
  • Spacious accommodations, starting at 463 square feet, also honor Jeju’s spirit with bursts of yellow and bathrooms designed to feel like mini jjimjilbang (Korean bathhouses), complete with gigantic marble soaking tubs. Most rooms offer sea views, though ground-floor accommodations swap views for a garden terrace and a circular, cypress-wood tub.
  • The stone-clad Spa by JW has it all: relaxation lounges, an indoor lap pool, sunken Jacuzzi, fitness center, yoga studio and access to a natural hot spring complex. Meanwhile, the facials and sea-inspired body treatments feature premium natural and organic products from the likes of Elemis and Thermes Marins de Saint-Malo.
  • With its energetic open kitchen, flavorful wood-fired dishes and ocean views, The Flying Hog is perfect for a date night or memorable family dinner. For a quieter evening, reserve seats at Yeoumul for an omakase experience showcasing ultra-fresh local seafood.
  • Soak up the Jeju sun at the resort’s outdoor infinity pool, which seems to flow into the sea. If a stroll through the countryside is more your speed, set out on the Jeju Olle Trail Route 7 cliffside walking trail to explore charming fishing villages and lush farmlands.

The Look

  • Designed by the internationally acclaimed architecture firm WATG, this clifftop retreat draws inspiration from Korea’s traditional Choga architecture — thatched-roof homes known as hanokOffering a modern take, the architects incorporated sleek stone, straight lines and carefully placed voids, allowing sea breezes and sunlight to flow seamlessly throughout the space.
  • Bill Bensley-designed interiors allow Jeju’s natural beauty and culture to shine. In the guest rooms, pale wood and pops of yellow reflect the island’s vibrant fields of canola flowers, while muted grey, black and white tones reference Jeju’s volcanic terrain.
  • In another nod to the island’s roots, the resort’s villas feature traditional Jeju roof tiles that add a touch of authenticity to the otherwise contemporary design.
  • Organic textures and materials, such as reclaimed wood accents and woven rattan furnishings in the guest rooms and common areas evoke a sense of warmth and tranquility.
  • Take some time to explore JW Marriott Jeju Resort & Spa’s contemporary art collection. Works by renowned artists like Jeff Koons and Damien Hirst are paired with pieces from Korean talent like Kim Tschang-Yeul.
