BACÁN

An exquisite take on fare spanning the Americas
VERIFIED LUXURY
The Spanish word BACÁN translates to “cool” in English. And, indeed, from its tropical-infused, woodsy yet colorful ambiance to its menu touching on morsels from across the North and South American continents, the restaurant is a growing epicenter of cool. It is the brainchild of executive chef Guillaume Robin who has graced top-tier properties globally through the years, including The Setai, Miami Beach and The St. Regis Toronto.

Adding to the restaurant’s buzziness is its first-floor location within Lake Nona Wave Hotel. The property opened in 2021 and is considered the most technologically advanced resort in Orlando, if not the state. The hotel anchors the booming Lake Nona community that is equally as tech-forward and ambitious itself — it has autonomous vehicles shuttling people around, as an example.

As Lake Nona continues to flourish in the years to come, BACÁN has established itself as thefine dining spot for a memorable night out.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • A massive Amy Rader art piece looms over the principal dining area, complete with colorful birds, butterflies and majestic characters aplenty. Further setting the scene, lantern lights hang over brown leather booths as well as tables with deep blue chairs.
  • Wherever seated, diners have a view of the long, tiled kitchen along one wall’s edge. While you can see the bulk of the action happening in the kitchen, some of the magic happens tableside, including smoked old fashioneds and liquid nitrogen desserts.
  • The menu spans appetizers, salads, “land” and “sea” offerings and desserts, stemming from all corners of the Americas. Delights along the way include a pan de bono (a Colombian cheese bread) service, serrano ham croquetas, a Lake Meadows Naturals farm whole chicken with truffle agave glaze and branzino a la plancha.
  • The Orlando restaurant has an intimate signature cocktail menu with a half-dozen or so selections, including takes on a mai tai (with basil leaves) and Puerto Rican parcha or passion fruit tipple (here with mezcal, grapefruit and avocado foam). A trio of zero-proof (alcohol-free) cocktails is also available.
  • There is a chef tasting menu — featuring rotating and seasonal dishes —daily up until an hour before the restaurant closes. Premium wine pairings are an additional charge. To embark on the tasting journey, everyone at your table must also do the tasting, with a six-guests-per-table maximum.
